The Walking Dead title sequence analysis.

Frame 1: In this shot we can see the head of a decomposed human or a zombie. The fact that it is a zombie suggests the series will come under the sci-fi/horror genre. The use of the colour red suggests violence and the splattered blood suggests death and anguish.

Frame 2: In this frame the title of the series is introduced, it follows very closely with the red colour scheme of the previous frame. The use of the title is an oxymoron as the in reality the dead walking should be impossible.

Frame 3: Here we see a group of what seems to be survivors huddling around a fire. The use of the fire suggests hope as light is commonly associated with survival. However the zombies approaching suggests that the survivors have to be constantly aware of their surroundings and can never truly rest.

Frame 4: This shot shows a misty background and a dead man on the floor. The use of the mist creates a tense scene and the dead man shows the constant decay of the human race. This scene also mentions the names of some of the leading characters in the series.

Frame 5: This show shows a lone man on a hill, presumably bleeding out after having been bitten by zombie. The fact that he is alone shows that once you are bitten and can turn at any point, everyone will abandon you.

Frame 6: In the centre of this shot we see a man holding a gun. The fact that he is centred, as well as the fact that he is holding a gun and is a sheriff suggests that he is an authoritative figure and perhaps the protagonist of the series.

Frame 7: The zombie in this shot is taking a bite out of the human. The protagonist takes a shot and kills the zombie which shows his skill with firearms, however the fact that he was too late suggests he takes an "every man for himself" approach to apocalyptic life.

Frame 8: The graves in this scene portray a sense of mourning and loss, the fact that the graves are shaped like a cross suggests that there is still some faith in god and religion.

Frame 9: This last shot shows the compassion between the protagonist and a female character. This shows that despite the circumstances, humans are still able to love and empathise with each other
